A bit about myself

I’m Hamish Gunasekara, co-founder and CEO of Catalog. Previously, I built AI systems at Afterpay and, following its $29B acquisition by Block, worked across Square and Cash App Commerce to streamline merchant integrations with AI. My career has been shaped by operating at the frontier of new commerce experiences and building the data infrastructure needed to power them. In 2024, I launched an AI shopping agent that grew to 12,000+ users, before realizing the larger opportunity was to build the infrastructure enabling these agents at scale. Cash App Commerce (formerly the Afterpay shop directory) was one of the first proto-agentic commerce platforms, and that showed me that these experiences are the next shift in shopping.
